Comprehensive Training and Assessments

LEARN TO RIDE

The first step to getting your motorbike license in New Zealand is to complete a BHST (Basic Handling Skills Test). These are conducted off the road in a controlled environment suitable for learners with little or even no experience.

CoastRider offers BHSTs in three different length sessions, so that you can choose the one you feel fits your needs best.

ASSESSMENTS

To get your Restricted or Full Licence, you can sit a CBTA (Competency-Based Training & Assessment.)

CoastRider will soon offer CBTA certificates at both levels.

GENERAL TRAINING

At CoastRider we know that people are at all stages in their motorbike journey and may want to have some one-on-one lessons where you can ask any questions, get tailored advice and get you feeling good about your riding ability.

For early level learners, this might look similar to a BHST, but without the pressure of it being an official test.

For more experienced riders, this might be more of a refresher course to identify and correct weak points in your technique and build confidence.

We tailor these trainings to your needs.

Group of motorcyclists

CoastRider are really approachable and knowledgable.

The assessor, Scott, is a really personable teacher and doesn't make you feel self-conscious about your skill level when you're starting out.

Aimée

Great one on one with Scott, awesome dude with heaps of knowledge, looking forward to sitting my full someday soon! Cheers

Rhys

Booked a one on one session with Scott for slow speed skills. He is approachable, patient and his explanation on how to improve technique is clear... After an hour I felt more smooth after applying new techniques and made turns I could not at the beginning. Thanks to CoastRider I know my weaknesses and strengths and how I can work on it.

Alina

I booked a few hours with Coastrider because I'd lost my confidence after not riding for a couple of years. I'm so glad I did. After an hour of low-pressure riding, reminders, corrections, and tips it all came back!

Rachel

Was looking for advanced cornering techniques and Scott gave me some great tips which will help me in different scenarios . Will definitely book more training in the future. Always a good idea to keep up skilling.
